The first in Kochi Prefecture!
Selected as an international certification Green Destinations 2025 Top 100!

100 regions around the world were selected in six categories by the Green Destinations (GD), an international certification organization that recognizes sustainable tourist destinations around the world, as the 2025 World Top 100 Sustainable Tourist Spots (hereinafter referred to as the Top 100 Selections).

Kuroshio-cho was selected as one of the regions in the category "Thriving Communities" category.

In Kochi Prefecture, it became the "first" selected area, and Kuroshio Town's disaster prevention culture and disaster prevention tourism were highly valued.

What is Green Destinations?
It is an international certification organization that establishes and manages international standards for sustainable tourism, and certifies tourist destinations that meet those standards.

The Top 100 Selections
Each year we select regions that incorporate international standards for sustainable tourism around the world and continue to build better communities.

[The Selection Process]

➀Sustainability checks are based on the following 15 items (*) (first year) that are considered important among the 84 tourist indicators that should be addressed for sustainable tourist destinations specified by GD, and scores of 60% or more must be obtained.

* (a) Tourism site management, b) socioeconomic, c) cultural, and d) collate whether the region is identified in terms of sustainability in environmental guidelines.

②The Good Practice Story provides excellent examples of how the region is addressing sustainable tourism challenges, and evaluates effectiveness, innovation, transition, and sustainability in six categories*.
